FeriaThe general area where our bar is built, is known as Finca Pernet and the local residents committee for this area organize an annual summer fair or Feria.

The big rides arrive a week or 10 days before the weekend of the feria and then the smaller rides and side shows gradually arrive during the week. By the start of the Feria there are some 50 or so attractions amassed all together.

The town hall fork out for a marquee to be erected and also pay for a top dance/rock band to provide the entertainment.

FeriaAll the locals dress up, the women always in new Flamenco dresses (“traje de faralaes”these dresses are expensive to buy or even have made and the fashions change every year.)

The men dress in Flamenco suits “traje corto” with a red silk sash tied around the waist, they also wear a Flamenco hat with, which in turn has its red silk band.

All ages dress up and the overall effect is really stunning. The images capture the flavor, color, energy, costumes and excitement of the feria beautifully. The other pictures show the inside of the marquee by night and the variety of dresses.

Enjoy!
