Decor That Sells Food

Whenever I go into a restaurant that is painted throughout in light green or blue, I never feel hungry.
Why? Because psychologically some colours encourage people to want to eat, or more simply put some colours make people feel more hungry. If you study the internal decor or of many Chinese restaurants, you’ll find out that they favour red wallpaper.
We wanted to sell fast food, so we went to the franchises that have spent lots of money on researching decor i.e. MacDonalds and Burger King. We found out that they employ yellow and red to encourage people to feel more hungry.
So we finally decided that we would use maroon on the windows and for the awning and then inside we have painted all the walls a deep sunflower yellow and we sell plenty of food with that colour scheme.
Also following on from yesterday’s topic - it’s a very good idea to have photographs or even better artists impressions of your food placed at strategic points around your premises.
The local fish restaurant for example has shoals of ceramic fish on the walls. They also have sea charts, paintings of fishing boats. Some restaurants hang cured ham from the ceiling or decorate with strings of garlic etc.
All these ideas make people think of food and feel hungry, so all you need to do is to decide which type of cuisine you are going to offer and then decorate your restaurant to reflect that cuisine and if you stick to that simple bit of advice you will definitely do well.
